FREE CLEFT PALET SURGERIES PROGRAM
Hospital Partners with Organization to Provide Free Cleft Palate Surgeries
In an inspiring collaboration aimed at transforming lives, St. Joseph’s Hospital has partnered with Smile Train Uganda in collaboration with Ssaza Busiro and Rotary Club of Wakiso to offer free reconstructive surgeries for children and adults born with cleft palates. This partnership seeks to provide life-changing medical care to underserved communities across Uganda, ensuring that individuals affected by this condition can lead healthier and more confident lives.

This partnership combines the surgical expertise of the hospital with the resources and specialized knowledge of Smile Train a leader in cleft care. Together, the organizations are addressing the critical need for accessible and affordable treatment for cleft conditions. The identified patients receive free surgeries, transport refund to and back home, free meals and accomodation.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to smile confidently and live a full life,” said Dr. Nicholas Mugagga the hospital ED. “By partnering with Smile Train, we’re making this vision a reality for countless families.”
Changing Lives One Smile at a Time The impact of this partnership extends far beyond the operating room. For many patients, receiving cleft surgery means an end to years of social stigma, improved ability to eat and speak, and a renewed sense of self-confidence. Families, too, experience relief and joy as their loved ones gain a brighter future.
